Position Summary:
The Material Handler assists in machine shop activities.
What will your day look like? At Aerotech, you will:
Removes burrs of excess metal from and reduces sharp surfaces of precision machined parts
Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc.
Operation of CNC & manual bandsaw
Matching blueprints to raw materials and travelers per the correct part number and revision
Basic blueprint reading
Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks
Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for machining
Reclaims metal chip bins from machining centers.
Assists in regular inventory cycle counts
Additional duties:
Responsible for respirator care and maintenance
Refilling of machine lubricant reservoirs
Basic upkeep of shop organization
As assigned
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
Ability to write simple correspondence
Knowledge to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Skilled at applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Basic computer skills
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
One to three months of related experience and/or training in a machine shop or similar environment
Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
One to three months of related experience and/or training
