Job Description
Title: Process Engineering Manager Reports To: VP of Manufacturing Engineering
Department: Manufacturing Engineering FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
Lead and support the process engineering team in developing processes for cost estimating purposes, perform manufacturability reviews for internal product design engineering and process reviews in program launch meetings at manufacturing plants.
Essential Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee/Coordinate teams priorities in developing processes and cycle times from customer supplied drawings/math data. Must be familiar with fabrication and machining processes.
Process reviews with team members to ensure accuracy that all processes, cycle times and external processes/quotes meet the requirements of the TDP/customer RFQ. Approved processes to be submitted to Sales department for customer submittal.
Oversee/Coordinate teams priorities in performing manufacturability reviews to support product design. Providing feedback on drawing specifications, tolerancing, material types, GD&T, etc.
Oversee team participation in outlining estimated processes during program launches at manufacturing plants.
Analyzes and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency on cost proposals.
Work with manufacturing plants to stay current with actual set up times, tooling requirements and inspection methods. Maintain estimating tools to ensure accuracy and improvements of estimates to actuals.
Confers with plant management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Read blueprints, understand GD&T and develop a manufacturing process. Performing tasks of Process Engineer as required
Understand general accounting methods in costing out projects along with strong Microsoft excel skills
Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual will need to perform the following competencies.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.
Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices in a diverse range of processes.
GD&T experience required.
Extensive knowledge of process flows, material flow, assistive tooling devices.
Project management experience preferred.
Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced and varying environment.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Ability to apply problem solving tools and methodology to a variety of manufacturing and business process issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual requires very strong skills with Excel and working knowledge CAD software, Word Processing software and Adobe Acrobat software.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of tens years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
