The Opportunity
Our Plymouth location is seeking a high caliber, motivated, self-driven leader to join our manufacturing engineering team for catheter manufacturing in Abbott’s Electrophysiology business unit. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives
Individuals in this role will support the Operations team on key initiatives around safety, quality, delivery and cost. Notable deliverables for the team include a new product launch and gross margin improvement. In addition to resolving production challenges alongside the Front Line Engineers and assemblers, this position will manage various projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve leading business objectives.
What You’ll Work On
Engage with Front Line Engineers supporting Operations team to address issues and improve current state
Manage projects which include process improvements and gross margin improvement while supporting daily production needs.
Provide guidance to other engineers and technicians.
Additional responsibilities include:
Provide technical mentorship to engineers and technicians
Conduct Process FMEAs and Process Validations
Improve product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through the use of Lean manufacturing concepts
Serve as manufacturing representative on large-scale programs, considering risk mitigation, implementation strategy and change management
Work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability
Individual should:
Be innovative, resourceful, and work with minimal direction
Have excellent organization, problem solving, communication, and team leadership skills
Have ability to multitask, prioritize their work and make data driven decisions
Work effectively with cross-functional teams
Required Qualifications
Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical or any engineering or technical degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience. Prior manufacturing engineering experience is preferred, but not required
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings
Ability to lead and motivate peers, drive change and problem solve with creativity
Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device experience preferred, but not required

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
