Responsible for managing, planning, leading, training and coaching the scheduling and materials management teams. This position will lead the measuring, monitoring and evaluation of team performance in all areas of scheduling, material flow, supply chain health, partnership, external warehousing, and customer service relationships within the operation. You will be partnering closely with the centralized procurement team and ensuring the operations teams have the materials they need in alignment with development of an attainable daily schedule. Additionally, this position holds responsibility for continued evolution of the processes in this space along with partnering with continuous improvement teams to drive optimization and reduced cost.
Responsibilities
Develop a vision and a strategy for the materials function aligned with our manufacturing and technical centers of excellence
Understand business objectives and create plans for achieving targeted conditions
Research, develop, identify, and implement continuous improvement, best practices and benchmarking ideas
Manage and measure key performance indicators for the function and assure alignment to larger operational goals
Manage both hourly and salary associates adhering to each classification's HR procedures
Assist in the recruiting, hiring, training, retaining, coaching and development of the staff for full employee engagement
Write and conduct performance reviews and talent reviews, and encourage individual development plans for direct reports
Be accountable for ensuring that factory materials are ordered and in stock to meet company requirements, while maintaining acceptable inventory levels
Be accountable for driving improved processes and systems to deliver results in inventory dollars and inventory accuracy
Be responsible for P&L results, projection, labor and budget preparation
Will make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect and/or overtime labor
Lead and engage team in physical inventory preparation, execution and delivering of result
Coordinate with the planning team to ensure schedulers receive all pertinent volume and scheduling data while ensuring that planners and schedulers are informed of any issues regarding purchased parts availability in a timely manner
Communicate the key functional initiatives and goals with cross functionals team
Support large scale programs to drive business transformation included new ERP and MES deployment
Be a key member of the site leadership team
Manage, indirectly, the activities of external warehousing
Coach and develop managers, leaders and support staff in the unit
Be responsible for unit personnel compliance with company policies and corrective action
Develop and maintain a culture of performance, accountability and positive engagement
Physical Requirements
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, etc, and generally involves sitting most of the time
Must be able to review printed materials
Must be able to communicate with large groups of people
Must be able to communicate telephonically
Must be able to communicate in writing

Mental Requirements
Must be able to generate and explain detailed proposals, guidelines, and procedures.
Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine issues using independent judgement.
Must be able to routinely make decisions that effect immediate operations and may have a company-wide effect.
Must be able to observe minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, a Materials process or system).
Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred
10+ years related manufacturing or technical experience.
7+ years supervisory experience, with proven leadership experience in a business environment.
Experience with SAP or SAP deployment - highly preferred
Experience with MRP systems, Kanban pull system, Just-in-Time, forecasting, contracts, negotiations, vendor sourcing and management, inventory management, accounting, bills of material, engineering change orders, blueprint reading, and product knowledge - highly preferred.
Must possess excellent communication, strategic thinking, analytical and negotiation skills.
Basic skills - Time management, project management, interpersonal, reporting and budgeting, stress management, people management, conflict management, customer service, Windows, advanced computer, statistics, financial systems, ISO9000, FDA regulation, organization structure, and office equipment.
Functional skills - personnel selection, financial systems, organizational structure protocol, interdepartmental interface, interdivisional interface and P&L management.
Expected to handle complex or difficult situations as appropriate.
Education/Special Training Required
Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or Graduate Degree in Supply Chain Management preferred
