Traffic Planning & Design Environmental Scientist in Pottstown, United States

Ranked the overall #4 Best Civil Engineering Firm to Work for in the Nation (#1 in our size category) and residing on the list of the Engineering News Record (ENR)’s Top 500 Design Firms in the nation, TPD (Traffic Planning and Design, Inc.) is currently hiring a Junior Environmental Scientist.

TPD is seeking a mid-level enthusiastic, detail oriented, environmental scientist to join our team. Our ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, the willingness to work cohesively within a team and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • NEPA scoping and environmental document preparation.

  • Preparation of Section 404/Chapter 105 water permits and supporting documentation.

  • Preparation of Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments.

  • Conducting Phase 1 Bog Turtle Surveys and coordination of additional endangered species involvement.

  • Wetland and Stream Identifications and Delineations.

  • Preparation of Section 4(f)/2002 and Section 6(f) documentation

  • General field assessments and preparation of environmental scopes of work/proposals.

  • Assisting in preparation of noise studies.

  • Coordination of project related public involvement activities.

  • Assistance in preparation of stream and wetland mitigation plans.

  • Attendance at project and client meetings – days and/or nights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Resources, Biology, Environmental Engineering or related field (required)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills

  • Experience with PennDOT, PADEP, and PADCNR procedures/regulations

  • Strong work ethic, ability to work on multiple projects, and ability to meet multiple deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and requires periodic travel/over-night stays for field investigations

  • Ability to work outside in varied field conditions

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • GIS, GPS, and MicroStation experience a plus

  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control a plus

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
