Assistant / Associate/ Full Professor Anatomic Pathologist Available Title(s): 164-NNFACULTY - Clinical Assistant Professor - Career, 165-NNFACULTY - Clinical Associate Professor - Career, 166-NN_FACULTY - Clinical Professor - Career Business Title: Assistant / Associate/ Full Professor Anatomic Pathologist Employee Type: Faculty Time Type: Full time Position Term: Position Details: The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology (VMP) and the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is inviting applicants to fill a full-time continuous career track (clinical track) or tenure track faculty position in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team focused on clinical service, clinical and didactic teaching, and scholarship with the opportunity of leadership within WADDL. The successful applicant will have opportunities to participate in diagnostic service in WADDL, clinical and didactic instruction of professional veterinary students and residents, and conduct collaborative research/ scholarship that aligns with VMP and WADDL. The amount of effort dedicated to each area is negotiable. Expectations for scholarship/ research will be greater for a successful tenure track applicant, appropriate to rank. For individuals at the Associate and Full Professor level, there is opportunity for leadership within WADDL and/or engagement with digital pathology, machine learning and artificial intelligence projects. The successful applicant must be able to effectively communicate and work with people of diverse backgrounds. The successful applicant will join a highly collaborative team of seven ACVP boarded pathologists along with thirteen anatomic pathology and microbiology residents in a new, state-of-the-art 60,000 sq. ft. veterinary medical diagnostic laboratory providing diagnostic service to the veterinarians and agriculture producers of Washington state, and to clients in our veterinary teaching hospital, in conjunction with clinical training of veterinary students and residents. WADDL is an AAVLD accredited full service veterinary diagnostic laboratory having a case load that spans domestic species, wildlife, and aquaculture with an emphasis on infectious disease. Further WADDL is a Tier 1 USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) laboratory at the forefront of animal disease surveillance. The faculty environment in VMP and WADDL is collegial, highly supportive and includes productive interactions with three ACVM boarded microbiologists, a boarded parasitologist, a boarded toxicologist, state regulatory and public health veterinarians, and infectious disease researchers. The successful applicant will provide diagnostic service in necropsy and histopathology (including immunohistochemistry) to WADDL, engage with pathology relevant NAHLN activities and contribute to clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary medical students and anatomic pathology residents. Teaching in the preclinical veterinary curriculum is expected in either General Pathology, Systemic Pathology, and/or other relevant courses. Effort can also be directed to scholarly activity and academic service with an expectation for creative publication that is synergistic with VMP and WADDL's clinical, teaching and research missions. There is opportunity for leadership of pathology focused sections within WADDL if desired. Required Qualification, all ranks: • A doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree and satisfactory completion of a post-DVM anatomic pathology residency training program are required.
