Charles B. Wang Community Health Center Unit Manager - Mental Health in Queens/Manhattan, New York

Full-Time Unit Manager - Mental Health

Reports To: Director of Operations, Mental Health

Queens/Manhattan, New York

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the day to day operations of all clinical services provided at unit, for optimal patient experience and workflow efficiency

  • Provide guidance and supervision to the Care Team including care managers and patient services representatives

  • Ensure facility is well maintained, neat, confidential and welcoming by working with administration, facilities and clinical staff

  • Arrange and optimize provider on-call schedules and room assignments; monitor scheduling to manage wait times, flow, and productivity, including strategies to address no shows, urgent, initial and routine appointments

  • Monitor and ensure efficient and complete workflows for patient registration (in-person and telehealth visits), as well as phone support

  • Monitor and manage patient experience and satisfaction, addressing concerns, health insurance issues, complaints and related issues

  • Participate in center-wide and unit Quality Assurance activities and meetings as assigned

  • Engage in marketing and promotion activities for services provided by the Health Center and programs to community organizations and residents

  • Develop protocols, workflows, policies and procedures related to unit and patient care activities

  • Coordinate and manage training and evaluations for staff, ensuring they meet performance expectations for all required competencies

  • Manage and deliver bi-directional health center communications that are timely and complete, facilitate interdepartmental coordination for mental health services

  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication as part of practice-wide care team

  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport and driving solutions and team

  • Assist Director of Operations with collecting and analyzing performance improvement and QI/QA data

  • Assist team with EMR maintenance and improvement with coordination with Clinical Informatics and Information Technology department

  • Maintain staff trainings and records

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years prior health office management or health care practice management experience

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, nursing, business administration, finance and/or health related field

  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, minimum 5 years of direct patient registration and/or medical assisting experience, with increase in responsibility and supervision over the years

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team

  • Good problem solving skills, inquisitive and interest in learning all aspects of the practice

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Compensation and Benefits :

  • Salary: $65,000.00 - 75,000.00 per year
