Job Overview
In this role you will partner with senior leaders of the corporation by focusing on strategic support that will positively impact their business lines. Provide proactive consultation, coaching, change management, and execution of HR related programs and services necessary to drive business unit objectives. Provide leadership, expertise, and direction in order to become a valued member of the business unit senior management team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Partnering and Consulting
Develop a thorough understanding of business unit practices in order to provide effective consultation to senior management on organizational issues
Implement innovative HR related solutions; helping execute business unit strategies
Build relationships throughout the business unit in order to maximize effectiveness, cooperation and trust
Proactively recognize key organizational trends and issues to determine potential human resources issues
Participate on task forces and special project teams
Reinforce Firstpower and model inclusive behavior within business unit
Relationship Management
Collaborate with HR teams and other FTB business partner teams to provide timely, effective and innovative solutions to business unit needs.
Apply knowledge of the various disciplines of HR in order to facilitate support for the business unit. Examples:
Partner with Training & Development on issues such as talent review and development, succession planning, performance management and career development plans, job specific training programs, business unit specific leadership training needs, etc.
Team with Corporate Recruiting on talent planning, talent selection, recruiting for inclusion and related staffing issues for business unit
Coordinate with Compensation on issues such as job and compensation structure, equity programs, annual bonus and incentive programs, and job analysis
Partner with Associate Relations on more involved issues for business unit, including complicated associate relations issues, leadership coaching on performance issues, developing plans to improve the work environment, and identifying and mitigating employment related risks
Coaching and Advising
Work with senior leaders to proactively address performance issues
Consult with management on the results of the Associate Value Survey and Leadership Survey and assist with the development of action plans with the management team.
Facilitate follow up meetings to survey results as needed
Respond to questions and advise senior leaders on HR impacts to alternative actions
Proactively monitor work environment to be aware of potential issues, problems
Act as liaison on engagements with external management coach
Interview candidates for key roles in business units
Change Agent
Facilitate the human and business sides of change management for business unit associates
Proactively identify significant change and work with senior leaders to develop/implement action plans to improve success of change
Provide support to senior business partner for organizational changes
Communication
Serve as a primary carrier of HR related messages to the business unit
Communicate key programs, policies, or issues with business line associates through staff meetings, briefings, brown bag lunch gatherings, etc. as needed
Share information and knowledge with appropriate HR staff and leaders
Communicate from business unit to corporate groups
Consult with peers to solve problems, identify solutions, and to share and build on best practice.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
5 or more years experience working with a line of business as a consultant / advisor within the business
Strong relationship management experience, with a results orientation and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
Proven success in leading / influencing others, building relationships
Exposure to, or knowledge of, multiple disciplines of HR potentially including compensation, recruiting, benefits, employee relations, operations, payroll, training and development.
Understanding of employment law, government regulations, and related compliance issues.
Experience in the resolution of workplace issues
Strong business acumen

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.
Advanced degree.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
