Google Principal Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud Storage in Raleigh, North Carolina
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of experience with distributed compute environments, software development, big data analytics, cloud computing including virtualization, hosted services, multi tenant cloud infrastructures, storage systems, or content delivery networks.
10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems
Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems.
Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging or local and cloud storage.
Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company

As part of the Google Cloud Infrastructure and Solutions Group (ISG) team, you will utilize your leadership skills and experience to drive the technical strategy and execution for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) Storage and Data Protection. As Principal Engineer, you will directly influence a team of Software Engineers, work closely with Product Management and Engineering Managers to define and execute on the storage for GDC roadmap for public sector, retail, and telecommunication markets. You will inspire our teams and establish trust amongst a diverse set of stakeholders and partners. You will use experience in storage systems, file systems, distributed systems, Kubernetes, and previous experience leading technical teams at a Storage or Cloud provider, working with infrastructure for enterprises and public sector customers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Lead the overall Storage technical strategy for Google Distributed Cloud Storage (GDC).
Collaborate with a global team of Engineering and Product Managers to execute making appropriate trade-offs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
Drive systems, tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage.
Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings.
