Red Hat Senior Release Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Collect data from existing monitoring and logging services in conjunction with specialized data collected to make data-driven decisions. Directly partner with the teams BSA to collect requirements and work with engineers to enhance the services provided by the team.

*Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze all requirements via analytical functions to support the job function and execute a clearly defined path based on the analytics and verification from the BSA and clients around the design of the existing systems and any new services onboarded to the team.

  • Review any data from direct systems of records or secondary systems of record. Work directly with the Development Enablement services to design and operate the environment based on requirements and feedback gathered by the customer and other engineers.

  • Test any design changes before any production push ensuring a higher quality of services and reduce potential for downtime.

  • Provide technical guidance as well as recommendations for project work through peer programming, code reviews and other peering functions which will require approval.

  • Ensure quality of services provided by applying best practices throughout the application life cycle, including peer programming, continuous integration pipelines, code review, testing, automation, deployment, security, and monitoring.

  • Identify where existing security and costs standards are required to change the existing designs and build a test and execution plan.

  • Analyze and improve uptime of new and existing Developer Enablement services.

  • Partner with the T&A side of the organization to gather requirements and make recommended changes around monitoring alerts for power requirements for the testing systems.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience in an IT role.

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with using Git for source code management including GitLab and GitHub or similar;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with automated configuration management tooling, including Ansible, Chef or Puppet;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment techniques and toolchains, especially using GitLab or GitHub;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with using containers, container orchestration, and container configuration management, including Docker, Kubernetes, or Helm;

  • Must have five (5) years of scripting experience in Python and Bash;

  • Must have three (3) years of experience with working in a software development role; Must have three (3) years of experience with relational and distributed databases; Must have three (3) years of experience with using any monitoring and logging tools for production services;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with DevOps environment;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with deploying systems on Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), especially AWS.

The salary range for this position is $120,661 - $162,050. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
