The Director, HEMA US Value and Access – MedTech Surgery, will work in close collaboration with the Directors of MedTech Surgery HEMA, US Commercial Sales & Marketing, Professional Education among other teams to ensure downstream market access and competitive advantage for Ethicon platforms, products and solutions in a value-based US healthcare market. This will be accomplished through the planning and execution of innovative market access strategies that integrate health economics, outcomes research, reimbursement and value-added access solutions to drive access and growth.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the MedTech Surgery Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) Team the Director, US Franchise Value & Access Ethicon Franchise working under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines:

  • Leads US market access activities, which include executing strategies to optimize market access, reimbursement and commercial success.

  • Oversees the development of tools to demonstrate the value of MedTech Surgery’s portfolio of products and serves as a resource to communicate HEMA related materials/data directly to customers;

  • Executes market access strategies that enable market access for platforms within MedTech Surgery technologies;

  • Gathers critical voice of customer (VOC) from internal/external partners to shape value messages and tool development for the US, including value dossiers, values briefs, and economics models;

  • Identifies US evidence gaps and market access requirements, provides input and closely collaborates with HEMA on product value propositions and outcomes needed to support US reimbursement and market access;

  • Manages as needed, the development and oversight of reimbursement tools and support programs including collaterals, hotlines and educational programs;

  • Works closely with HEMA partners and multiple cross-functional partners, including Government Affairs, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, US Commercial Marketing & Sales, Professional Education, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal;

  • Partners with the North America HEMA team to stay abreast of key US reimbursement and market access trends and impact to MedTech Surgery;

  • Aligns, drives and codevelops programs and solutions in support of Platform strategies to be executed in the US;

  • Closely partners with Strategic Payer Relations, Strategic Reimbursement and SCG HEMA Teams to drive two-way understanding of requirements, provide data, collaterals and programs to be leverage with Strategic Customers and when need provide direct or leveraged content knowledge through Field HEMA or Platform Leaders & Teams.

  • Provides training to US Commercial teams and other business partners on health economics, reimbursement and value tools;

  • Collaborates closely with global partners to adapt and develop materials for economic stakeholders;

  • Educates internal colleagues on the HEMA function and its role in creating value propositions for the non-clinical stakeholder throughout the product life cycle;

  • Accountable for the development, management and tracking of US HEMA goals & objectives and budget;

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures; and

  • Will build strong collaborative cross-functional partnerships to ensure alignment on priorities, goals, objectives, success metrics, reporting and compliance.

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics, outcomes research or healthcare related field preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 or more years’ experience in the healthcare industry is required

  • Ability to work from strategy development to execution and value creation in a dynamic organization is required

  • Previous US market experience with a strong understanding of medical delivery systems, reimbursement, market access conditions and health policy trends in the US is required.

  • Solid knowledge of evidence needed to drive favorable US reimbursement and market access is required.

  • US market development/therapy expansion/commercial experience is preferred.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present, communicate and disseminate complex data and concepts.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 - $271,400

  • The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
