Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles. This role involves designing, developing, modifying, and testing existing mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems used in the manufacturing of land-based drilling equipment, as well as engaging in research and development projects. Specific areas of focus include working with manufacturing, product management, and a team of engineers to ensure on-time delivery and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee each drill from the initial configuration through production and delivery to ensure the final product is delivered as designed.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the various products we produce.

  • Create configuration and transport specification drawings as requested by the sales department.

  • Create, check, and update engineering drawings and design documentation.

  • Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes and develop improvements.

  • Design and develop prototypes.

  • Analyze and test prototypes and each revision, documenting critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors.

  • Collaborate with production personnel for design improvements and/or changes to enhance manufacturability.

  • Support service teams in troubleshooting systems in the field.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Skills

  • Competence with 2D and 3D CAD packages (AutoCAD and SolidWorks used and preferred, but familiarity with other packages will be accepted).

  • 4-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience from industry experience.

  • Hands-on mechanical background including experience welding, machining, or other similar fabrication techniques.

  • Experience designing steel weldments and performing complex weld analysis and calculations.

  • Competence performing finite element analysis and verification of calculations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Heavy equipment knowledge, operation, and maintenance experience is a plus.

  • Experience in steel design and fabrication is a plus.

  • PE license is not required, but it is a good qualification to have.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $49.00/hr.
