Serves as Protocol Specialist, U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), in all phases of the Protocol Division work. In the absence of the Protocol officer, serves as the staff assistant and advisor to the Office of the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding General, and Chief of Staff, AMCOM. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and execute protocol aspects of visits of high ranking United States (US) and foreign dignitaries, events and ceremonies hosted by the Commanding General (CG) with guidance and assistance. Respond professionally to requests for assistance in all matters related to protocol procedures, consulting with Director or Team Leader for complex decisions. Provide timely briefings on upcoming visits, events or ceremonies. Provide full range of protocol services to include design, planning, set ups/clean ups, and execution of events, i.e., ceremonies, assist with conferences and plan and execute official social events. Assist in the establishment of an effective protocol policy addressing the special needs of Distinguished Visitors (DVs) and Events. Determine protocol support requirements for executive level civilians with DA, Sister Services and official visits. Coordinate events and Visits across the Installation. Conceptualize, plan and conduct event-related activities in accordance with agency protocol standards associated with events and ceremonies with guidance and assistance Recommend appropriate use of funding to support official command visitors and dignitaries, and events in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing protocol assistance for visits of high ranking United States (US) and foreign dignitaries; determining protocol support requirements, planning and executing Official Events and Ceremonies such as Change of Commands, reviewing protocol policies for an organization, and escorting dignitaries for the duration of their visit in a professional and courteous manner; Planning and coordinating budget for official representation funds within appropriate regulations. OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
