FANNIE MAE Senior DevOps Engineer (Hybrid) in Reston, Virginia

Job Description As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to the DevOps transformation of the Chief Data Office. You will work on assessing, designing, and developing all aspects of our CI/CD pipelines of moderate complexity, helping our application teams drive efficiency and reliability into their entire Software delivery lifecycle. You will apply your deep technical expertise to accelerate the transformation of DevOps and Cloud-Native practices.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Senior DevOps Engineer role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Advise team and management on process improvements and opportunities for automation.

  • Apply extensive knowledge of DevOps engineering principles and advanced techniques to manage the timely resolution of DevOps related projects.

  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across the release lifecycle to obtain input and support for planned DevOps engineering activities.

  • Participate in cross-departmental process improvement and automation initiatives.

Qualifications Minimum Required Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience in software development and DevOps engineering.

  • Experience with automating cloud-native technologies, deploying applications and provisioning infrastructure.

  • Experience working with technical teams implementing DevOps solutions to accelerate software delivery.

  • Experience with designing and automating CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, GitLab or similar tools.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, using CloudFormation, Terraform or similar tools.

  • Experience with end-to-end software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile methodologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, result-driven environment.

Desired Experiences:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development and DevOps engineering.

  • Computer Science or engineering background.

  • Demonstrated success as a software developer, DevOps engineer or SRE engineer working on various platforms.

  • Demonstrated success improving agility through various delivery and implementation methodologies.

  • Experience deploying large scale Enterprise applications using container and cloud technology.

  • Programming skills in multiple scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Groovy,or similar.

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible and similar.

  • Experience in implementation of GitLab and Terraform CI/CD

  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal.

  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.

  • Industry certification is preferred.
