University of Rochester Research Technician III in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Genetics is a very busy service where we see an enormous range of pathology in both adults (genetics and strabismus) and children. We currently have over 50 active research and writing projects that involve any number of our 3 physicians, 12 ophthalmology residents, pediatric ophthalmology fellows, ocular genetics fellows, genetic counselor, medical students and visitors and collaborators from around the world.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Research Assistant will oversee this research and writing program including administrative duties, project tracking, management of electronic files, obtaining informed patient consent for research projects, data collection, database construction and oversight, coordination of meetings, manuscript and grant preparation/writing/submission, Institutional Review Board submission preparation.

  • Projects range from bench laboratory to clinical research and cover the areas of pediatric cataract, strabismus, pediatric glaucoma, ocular genetic disorders, and all aspects of pediatric ophthalmology.

  • Opportunities abound for the assistant to publish and develop their curriculum vitae. Assist with research project design, collecting data, and analysis of research.

  • The successful applicant will also be the have a role in the coordination of the Harley CGRN International Pediatric Glaucoma Registry.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree with experience in appropriate discipline required.

  • 4-5 years specialized experience in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Candidates must have strong information technology and interpersonal skills. Medical students may apply. The applicant must be able to work independently with limited supervision. High productivity and the ability to handle a large work load is a key to success in this position.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $21.36 - $29.90 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
