Transportation Engineer IIIPerforms advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transportation Engineer IVPerforms highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assumer direct accountability for the work product.Transportation Engineer VPerforms highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance, and research. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IIIPerforms advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and plan development.Assists Area Engineers with construction contract administration matters.Coordinates and monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.Coordinates maintenance matters with Area Engineers.Coordinates with Area Engineers and reviews area office contract submissions.Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Reviews, coordinates, monitors and approves routine and emergency maintenance contracts; performs/oversees maintenance specifications writing/review, plans and proposal review, and preparation of estimates for letting.Trains engineering staff.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IVIncludes all essential duties listed for Transportation Engineer III as well as:Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals.Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer VIncludes all essential duties listed for Transportation Engineer III and IV as well as:Oversees and develops plans for complex project(s) related to their resource assignments, schedules, scope, communication, quality, and/or procurement, while utilizing available resources and maintaining the agency's project objectives.Acts in an advisory capacity on administrative, technical, regulatory and engineering aspects of transportation.Coordinates with utility companies, attorneys and governmental representatives to accurately depict the highway project's impact on adjacent properties.Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
