This position assists with the maintenance program of park facilities, grounds, and equipment. Performs skilled and non-skilled duties including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, mowing, weed trimming, trash removal, vehicle maintenance, and other related maintenance activities. Other duties include assisting with the training and supervision of seasonal employees and volunteers involved with maintenance projects. The Maintenance Assistant helps in maintaining equipment histories, inventorying supplies and materials, record-keeping, assisting the public as necessary, and other duties as assigned. Must be able to work weekends and some holidays and have a valid drivers license. A drivers record check will be performed.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience or training in the building construction trades, general building maintenance, or in the repair of maintenance of mechanical equipment. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
