Normandy School Collaborative Teacher Assistant *2024-2025 in Saint Louis, Missouri

JOB SUMMARY

To assist and support teachers in developing school and district-level objectives by working with individual students or small groups of students to help them acquire grade -level skills and abilities. Work under supervision of certified teacher.

Pay Grade:Classified Salary

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares for classroom activities, under supervisor of classroom teacher
  • Performs clerical duties, as needed
  • Helps maintain neat and orderly classroom
  • Assists individual children in need of special attention
  • Sets up AV equipment for instructional purposes
  • Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepares required reports
  • Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teacher
  • Works with small groups of students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher
  • Helps supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside, during lunch, bus and playground duty
  • Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snacks, toilet, and clothing routine
  • Participates in staff development training programs
  • Participates in staff meetings and special events as assigned
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and file maintenance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Work habits necessary for the independent completion of assignments within stipulated timeline and guidelines (High task performance and good attendance)

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency
  • Minimum of 60 hours of college credits
  • Experience working with children
