Job Description
A leading electrical contractor in California has been awarded a large-scale project in Salinas, CA. We are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment and driving continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) systems. The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance. The position involves working closely with other project-level functional leads to integrate safety and health requirements into work products and activities.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with management and customers to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Provide assistance to project and construction management in addressing safety and health issues during project execution.
Conduct safety assessments and inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with safety and health requirements.
Assist management in investigating injuries, motor vehicle accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, and property damages, and develop reports including root cause analysis.
Conduct safety and compliance training for supervisors and field employees.
Review current safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
Prepare reports to document audits and inspections, Method of Procedure (MOP), and critical activity plans.
Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
Stop operations and activities that expose staff or equipment to dangerous conditions.
Share environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
3+ years of safety experience in a construction setting.
Working knowledge of injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction techniques.
OSHA 30 construction certificate.
STSC or higher safety certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
Knowledge of 29 CFR and CCR Title 8 regulations as applied to construction and general industry.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
Previous electrical system installation experience (solar installation experience is a plus).
Competent Person: Electrical safety NFPA 70E, Excavation, Fall protection, and Confined space.
Self-driven, able to work alone or as part of a team.
Ability to work split shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel as needed.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisory, and leadership skills.

Work Environment
The job site is a construction site in Salinas, CA. You will be working with the crew and other subcontractors on the project. The role may require occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, working in limited space, talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and seeing for various tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salinas, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $67.31
