INTERNAL AUDITOR

Depending on experience,this may be an entry level position where the incumbent works under close supervision while receiving on-the-job training (Auditor I),or a working level position where the incumbent performs a full range of audit tasks under general supervision (Auditor II). 

Principal Duties

Incumbent will perform three primary activities:

  1. Auditing internal programs and functions in order to improve the effectiveness of risk management,internal controls,and governance processes. (40% of time)
  2. Consulting on federal grants and agreements to ensure conformity and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. (30% of time)
  3. Supporting the agency s contract management process,which includes contract creation,execution,and administration. (30% of time)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong data analysis skills using Excel or Google Sheets
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to tactfully communicate negative information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federal grants and agreements,particularly 2 CFE Part 200
  • Experience conducting audits following the  International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing  or the GAO s  Government Auditing Standards
  • Certified Internal Auditor or Internal Audit Practitioner
  • College-level coursework in accounting,business,contracting,economics,finance,or law
