Materials Sourcing Specialist
San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear.
Position:
SAS has an opening for a Materials Sourcing Specialist.
Job Responsibilities:
Source seasonal and year round materials as defined by the Design and Development Department.
Develop a working technical knowledge of the materials to be sourced.
Maintain and review records of items developed, costs, deliveries, and product performance.
Collaborate with Design and Development and Quality Assurance teams in evaluation of sourced material (color, aesthetic, technical and functional testing).
Diversify raw material supplier base.
Negotiate price with domestic and overseas suppliers based on market fluctuations and quantities.
Function as a liaison between design, manufacturing, purchasing, and scheduling teams.
Fulfil material requisitions as assigned
Contact preparers of requisitions to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.
Makes necessary corrections in the system to maintain data integrity.
Filing, data entry, and organizing on a daily basis.
Travel to material shows with the Design team, both domestically and overseas to find innovative materials and new vendors.
In addition, other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Able to adapt to new technologies and techniques to increase productivity and keep technical skills up to date.
Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Five years sourcing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
Computer proficient in Microsoft- Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advanced Excel skills required.
Position involves some travel within and outside the U.S and requires physical ability to travel globally on commercial transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including sitting, standing and walking.
Work will be conducted in a climate controlled office environment.
Ability to input data (typing) into a computer for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
