Senior Substation Project Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Antonio, Texas office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within commutable distance of the office).
Responsibilities
Grow and manage relationships with local clients
Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner
Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices
Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
Required Education/Experience
Ability to function as a Senior Substation Project Engineer in San Antonio office of our Substation Business Unit
BSEE (BS in Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain within one year
Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design, and IEEE/ANSI standards
Experience in managing five or more people on a project team.Experience filling the role of project engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
Ten or more years experience in utility substation design is preferred
Experience with and established positive relationships with local clients
Experience in 345kV through 500 kV substation design.
