THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Data Steward to join our Enterprise Data Governance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data governance of enterprise-level data assets within one or more assigned data domains, evaluate data accuracy and integrity against certain data standards, and coordinate the remediation of issues relative to assigned domains. This individual will also perform data accuracy validation of Key Data Elements onboarded into core systems of record, enabling early identification and assessment of data risk, and partnership with business and operations teams to design and enhance data controls. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to build meaningful relationships with business partners, and support data-related activities across the organization. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Serves as primary data governance interface for business, operations, and technology stakeholders for assigned data domain(s)

  • Facilitate domain stakeholder approval of proposed Key Data Element definition, classification, and other metadata changes

  • Evaluate process, control, system, and dataset adherence to Key Data Element business rules/standards relevant to assigned data domain(s).

  • Perform Front end accuracy/validation for KDEs in assigned domain(s) where applicable

  • Perform ongoing monitoring of various data quality dimensions within business processes and systems relevant to assigned data domain(s).

  • Monitor data control outcomes to enable prompt identification of potential data risk

  • Perform root cause analysis, and remediation of data-related issues

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data risk management, data governance, or a related role

  • General knowledge of financial services industry; some experience with banking, loans, finance, and banking operations.

  • Basic understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, metadata management, and related regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and individuals with varying levels of responsibility up to and including senior management.

  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-starter demonstrates initiative, personal accountability, and a can-do attitude

  • Contribute to continuous process improvement, to increase overall efficiency and quality.

  • Experience facilitating meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed

  • Capability to decompose complex issues and drive timely decisions, knowing when to engage others for additional input, and when to act independently

  • Ability to communicate difficult strategies and concepts in a relatable way to effectively persuade and influence

  • Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Information Management, or a related field and/or professional certifications in data governance or data management, such as CDMP, DGSP, or similar.

  • Experience working in a large financial institution with complex data environments.

  • Ability to communicate difficult strategies and concepts in a relatable way to effectively persuade and influence

  • Demonstrated relationship building including success with senior stakeholders

  • Excellent time-management, problem solving, organization, and analytical skills

  • SQL query proficiency

SALARY RANGE

The full-time base salary range for this position is $84,000.00 - $125,000.00 USD a year. The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
