HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION

The Lead Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver is located at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s Rancho Bernardo Warehouse. The Lead Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver works under general directions and oversees the warehouse and delivery operations; performs the duties of the Warehouse Worker/ Delivery Driver, and assures all staff is adequately trained for assigned responsibilities. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO?

  • Establish the priorities for the day and assigns labor for completion

  • Direct the daily efforts of staff

  • Oversee the training and developmental efforts of staff

  • Provide performance feedback to manager for use in evaluations

  • Provide staff with timely feedback regarding their performance

  • Emphasize safety first for all activities

  • Travel to off-site campuses and in the field

  • Drive motorize vehicles on and off grounds

  • Serve as a channel for communication between manager and staff as needed

  • Meet regularly with manager to discuss operational goals as well as recent and upcoming efforts

  • Perform all Warehouse Worker/ Delivery Drivers’ tasks as often as needed to maintain a high level of proficiency

  • Coordinate and directs employees’ efforts to pick, stock, and restock merchandise, receive and record receipt of incoming shipments

  • Identify and corrects inventory errors or research discrepancies called in by the retail outlets

  • Pack and ship mail orders, load trucks and deliver to retail outlets

  • Maintain warehouse stock levels through reorders with vendors

  • Perform physical inventories

  • Provide physical support to store setups and teardowns

  • Report any equipment issues promptly

  • Assist manager in scheduling and organizing daily tasks

  • Ensure warehouse areas maintained in a clean, organized, safe and orderly condition

  • Coordinate and direct employees’ efforts to pick, stock, and restock merchandise, receive and record receipt of incoming shipments

    WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

    A motivated team player with exceptional leadership skills who feels comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Basic ability to use a computer for data entry, email communication, and reviewing daily auditing reports. A valid CA driver license in good standing is required. Must be at least 18 years of age. This position requires successful completion of a physical ability test. The normal schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday from 6:00am-2:30pm with some exceptions based on operational needs.

    JOB EXPERIENCE

  • Education, training and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the knowledge and skills outlined.

  • Valid California driver license in good standing

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Material storage

  • Safe driving practices and California motor vehicle law

  • Basic-level PCs, Word, and Excel programs

  • Effective leadership skills

  • Operate motorized equipment and vehicles safely

  • Operate fork-lift on a consistent basis

  • Perform general warehousing duties

  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written)

  • Work effectively with others in a diverse environment

  • Deal tactfully and courteously with the others

  • Respond to cautions from co-workers

  • Competently perform the essential functions outlined above

  • Position Type: Hourly Full-Time Non-Exempt Union Position - If selected, there will be fees and dues to be paid to the union

  • Hourly Rate: $24.52
