Job Description

The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as a clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas.

The Texas School Safety Center is seeking candidates to work closely with the Business Operations Program Manager to provide efficient, skilled, and informed financial services to the Texas School Safety Center. The Business Operations Assistant Manager willlead various projects and work closely with other Specialists and divisions within the Center, providing technical assistance and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures. This position also serves as the liaison to the Texas School Safety Center Board of Directors and/or respective sub-committees. The candidate should display sound judgement and be able to communicate clearly and concisely with various stakeholders, as well as work independently with little supervision and with a high level of productivity.

In addition, this person will be responsible for monitoring financials, including credit card reconciliations, and the collection of funds from conferences. The role demands a strong focus on financial tasks to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions and adherence to financial protocols.

Job Duties

  • Assist Business Operations leadership with project management

  • Assist Business Operations leadership with Center hiring management duties

  • Assist with developing Business Operations training materials and training staff on procedures

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Texas State University procedures relating to procurement, financial services, and travel

  • Conduct credit card reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies. In addition, lead in the collection and recording of funds from Center conferences

  • Serve as liaison between Board of Directors and TxSSC. Coordinate meeting logistics on a quarterly basis and provide support to the Texas School Safety Center Board of Directors

  • Interact via email, telephone, and in person in a professional manner with an emphasis on customer service

  • Organize and prioritize work, multitasking to meet deadlines for short and long-term assignments

  • Ensure attention to detail, data accuracy, and integrity on all work platforms

  • Interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, proficient at identifying problems, providing solutions, and following through with a satisfactory resolution

  • Perform other duties as assigned
