  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in event planning, coordinating, and program management

  • Ability to coordinate a variety of work activities and work as part of a team

  • Availability to seasonally work evenings and weekends

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituencies both on and off campus.

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field.

  • Demonstrated involvement in a related professional association ( AHEPPP , NODA , etc.)

  • Experience with student support and retention initiatives.

  • Experience developing programs with academic stakeholders.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency

Job Description

The Coordinator of Welcome Experiences leads and manages initiatives that welcome, transition, and effectively support new students and parents and family members of students attending Texas State University. The Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of vision, program and service delivery, quality control, risk management, constituent engagement, resource development, and fiscal management which align with and contribute to division and university vision, mission, and goals for enrollment and student success. Collectively, these efforts will contribute to building, supporting, and centering new student and family orientation, transition, and retention experiences as an important factor in creating campus culture, fostering a sense of belonging, student persistence, and academic success and well-being.

Job Duties

Program Management:

  • Develop and host an educational and engaging experience for over 8,000 new students through Bobcat Welcome Week programming

  • Support and implement annual Family Weekend experience for 4,000-8,000 individuals to connect families to the life of the university

  • Support an educational and engaging experience for over 4,000 new families during New Student Orientation

  • Assist with the development and implementation of department-wide programs including New Student Orientation, Welcome week, Family Weekend, and other new orientation, transition and retention initiatives

Constituent Engagement:

  • Supports Family Weekend Collaborative Project Team consisting of internal and external stakeholders to host an engaging weekend-long program of activities

  • Supports Bobcat Welcome Week Planning Team of internal stakeholders to host an engaging week-long program of activities

  • Liaises with members of the New Student Orientation Planning Committee and campus partners to provide daily management and logistical support for New Student Orientation

Resource Development:

  • Develops online modules to facilitate a successful transition to the university.

  • Assists in the development of publications and communication plans for transition programs.

Financial Management:

  • Executes financial decisions in alignment with university, division, and departmental protocols.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Coordinate special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of New Student and Family Experiences or designee.
