Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Rehabilitative Health Services Teacher to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) program. The ideal candidate will teach high school students foundational skills in sports medicine, rehabilitative therapy, and health care practices. This role emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning that prepares students for careers in athletic training, physical therapy, and related health services. Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery
Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state CTE standards, industry certifications, and program objectives.
Teach foundational sports medicine concepts, including anatomy and physiology, injury prevention, therapeutic modalities, and rehabilitation techniques.
Provide students with hands-on training in skills such as taping, bracing, evaluating injuries, and developing treatment plans.
Student Engagement
Create a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and a passion for health care careers.
Mentor students in career exploration and work-based learning opportunities.
Guide students in preparing for certifications such as First Aid/CPR and other industry-recognized credentials.
Program Development
Maintain and update classroom equipment and supplies to support hands-on learning.
Build partnerships with local health care providers, sports teams, and organizations to enhance student learning experiences.
Collaborate with school staff and CTE advisory committees to align program goals with industry needs.
Assessment and Feedback
Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and certifications earned.
Provide constructive feedback to help students refine their skills and achieve their goals.
Professional Collaboration
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to share strategies and best practices.
Attend CTE department meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
Current teaching credential or willingness to obtain a Career & Technical Education (CTE) credential in Health Science.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ATC, PT, or First Aid/CPR instructor) are preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic training, physical therapy, sports medicine, or a related health field.
Teaching or mentoring experience is preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in rehabilitative health techniques, injury prevention, and therapeutic practices.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to design and implement engaging, hands-on learning activities.
Commitment to student safety and success.
The salary range for the 2024/25 school year is $49,138 - $71,018 depending on applicable years of experience. The Certified Salary Schedule has not been approved for the 2025/26 school year. The rates will be updated, when it has been approved. There are stipends available for education levels at Doctorate Degree and National Board Certification. The full-year contract is for 190 days.New teachers to LPOSD are paired with a Mentor Teacher during your first year of employment, assisting you in establishing yourself in the profession and the District.
