Advantage Steel Fabrication *in Saxonburg, PA, is looking for a *full-time Fitter/Fabricator *to complete heavy structural steel fabrication projects for bridges, buildings and heavy equipment. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FITTER / FABRICATOR

As a Fitter/Fabricator at Advantage, you play a vital role in our company. Every day, you arrive at our facility ready to perform a variety of important tasks, including reviewing blueprints, setting up work areas, developing tooling and fixtures, measuring and laying out parts, and fitting and tacking up structural steel to allow for efficient and accurate final product.

You get hands-on experience using heavy industrial tools and machines to saw-cut, flame-cut, shear, bend, grind and drill steel. You will also be using a variety of forklifts and overhead cranes to handle material. Exhibiting great flexibility, you complete important additional tasks as they arise. Ensuring a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement gives you a deep sense of satisfaction, and you feel great know you are part of a successful team!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FITTER / FABRICATOR

  • 5 or more years of work experience in an AISC, AWS, ASME, API fabrication environment.
  • Must be willing to learn and apply fit up techniques and welding in a code driven shop.
  • Must be willing to work in teams to accomplish a common goal.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code is preferred.
  • Ability to understand a project's welding requirements in order to correctly select & utilize a welding process.
  • Exceptional welding ability using processes of: SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW.
  • Ability to pass welder performance qualifications in all positions.
  • Exceptional knowledge of fitting, fixturing and fabrication processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of set-up and operation of fabrication equipment (i.e.: press brakes, shears, ironworkers, drill presses/magnetic drills, oxyfuel & plasma burning equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret, understand and provide instruction to self and welders/welders' helpers per a given welding procedure specification (WPS).
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, organization and problem solving.
  • Ability t meet challenging deadlines in an efficient and profitable manner.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; 2-year post-secondary education at Technical or Trade School preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A FITTER / FABRICATOR

The schedule for this position is typically Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Some flexibility is required. There are opportunities to work extended hours as necessary to meet project needs.

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
