Role Summary
The Corporate Counsel is a subject matter expert and thought leader in commercial matters for the Alaska Air Group (AAG) companies. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for the in-house legal team and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to support multiple business units in a variety of transaction and counseling work.
Key Duties
Supports multiple business units, including Finance, Treasury, Corporate Real Estate, Airport Operations, Marketing, IT, Flight Operations, Maintenance and Engineering and Supply Chain Management and involves a variety of transaction and counseling work in these and other areas, including:
Aircraft and engine purchasing, financing and leasing
Aircraft and engine maintenance agreements
Debt and other financing transactions
Secured transactions involving aircraft and equipment
Airport and ground operations agreements
Real property and facility use transactions
Airport authority rules and requirements
Goods and services procurement contracts and RFPs
Licenses and other adhesion contracts
Non-disclosure agreements
Data privacy agreements
SEC filing support
Other commercial agreements, including real estate purchasing and leasing, software licensing, and professional services
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
At least 6 years of experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in a law firm, corporate or government environment or related area.
Juris Doctor degree from leading law school, with strong personal academic credentials.
Membership in good standing in at least one state bar, preferably Washington State.
Experience a law firm, in-house, or government attorney role.
Proficient in understanding and knowing how to apply rules of privilege in a corporate setting.
Ability to think quickly on your feet, convey grace under pressure, find practical solutions and simultaneously manage workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, highly detailed environment where flexibility is key.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with colleagues as needed regarding issues outside of primary practice area.
Ability to work independently, manage time and multi-task.
Demonstrate high standards for professional integrity.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience working with clients in the aviation industry or other highly regulated, technical or mechanical industries.
Demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.

Salary Range
$136,100 - $204,100 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$149,710 - 224,510
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
