This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface. As part of a hardworking and collaborating team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be leading the development and deployment of advanced communications systems for lunar permanence business unit. This is a highly collaborative and technical role where your expertise will guide critical projects and contribute significantly to our mission of lunar exploration and habitation.The ideal candidate will work closely with Systems Engineering teams to support and guide the software architecture, technology selection, and verification planning in alignment with the requirements and payload customer needs to fly on-orbit vehicles. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead Systems Architecture for advanced communication systems including free space optical, radio frequency and other technologies for various orbits. Lead the design, development, and testing of software architecture for radio and antenna systems to be used on the lunar surface. Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineers, system engineers, and mission architects to define requirements and develop scalable solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Develop software protocols and algorithms to optimize wireless communication performance in the harsh lunar environment. Conduct detailed analysis and modeling of radio frequency (RF) and Antenna propagation to support antenna design and placement. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, as well as Blue Origin's stringent safety and reliability requirements. Participate in and contribute to technical reviews, risk assessments, and mission planning activities. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, aeronautics, telecommunications, or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a strong hands-on experience in architecting space communication systems. 5+ Years of experience working with wireless technology, such as: wireless signal processing, wireless communications, modem systems design, wireless systems engineering, DSP (digital signal processing), physical layer processing (L1). Proficient with Matlab/Simulink, or equivalent modeling environment and experience in developing and implementing DSP algorithm on FPGAs/SoCs. Proven track record of successfully leading complex wireless communication projects from conception to
