Amazon Principal, Technical Program Manager, WW Sustainability in Seattle, Washington

Description

Join us at the cutting edge of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.

The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.

Sustainability Science and Innovation (SSI) is a multi-disciplinary team within WW Sustainability combining science, analytics, economics, statistics, machine learning, product development, and engineering expertise. We use data across the sustainability imperatives (carbon, water, waste, biodiversity, environmental risk and more) and these skills and capabilities to identify, develop, experiment, and scale the scientific solutions and innovations necessary for Amazon, customers and partners to help them solve their hardest unmet and evolving sustainability needs and goals.

We’re looking for an outstanding Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will develop and execute a unified roadmap for the development of our long-term company-wide sustainability trajectory and prediction modeling for Amazon.

This person will manage multiple ambiguous initiatives (with outcomes that are not guaranteed but impactful when executed effectively) as a program for one or multiple of sustainability trajectory and prediction models (Climate; Economy; Industry).

This person will work with WWS partner teams (WW Sustainability Tech, WW Environment, ESG, The Climate Pledge, etc.) and with other relevant Amazon business units, and external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers, startups)

You’re expected to drive these initiatives in order to exceed the high bar of our customer's requirements, achieving our long-term sustainability goals and commitments through science and innovation. This will require close collaboration with customers and stakeholders to delivery and demonstrate global-scale innovative modeling technologies and solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable and resilient.

A successful candidate has previous exposure to sustainability (broadly defined) and climate tech (broadly defined), multidisciplinary scientist and practitioners (across processes, materials, and methods), and has knowledge about sustainability needs of our customers.

You will be able to translate scientific concepts into technical design and implementation roadmaps while driving multiple initiatives simultaneously. They effectively leverage support from teams within their own organization and other teams and peers within WWS. Effective verbal and written communication is a key skill to generate alignment between SSI, WWS and other functions.

You will work successfully across multidisciplinary teams and drive a continuous delivery culture to embed informed, science-based decision-making into existing mechanisms, such as decarbonization strategies, ESG compliance, and risk management. You are required strong attention to detail, technical penetration, excellent communication skills, collaboration, analytical and abstract thinking, time management and organizational skills.

If you see yourself innovating at the intersection of climate science and tech, we’d like to meet you.
