Job Description

Nordstrom is seeking a Senior Engineer 2 to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Team. We are looking for someone to help build scalable, reliable, and resilient solutions. The Sr. Engineer 2 in SRE will be responsible for maintaining high operational standards, leading key projects, and driving innovation within the team. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring our systems perform seamlessly.

A day in the life…

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure their systems meet Nordstrom’s standards for operational excellence.

  • Mentor Team members and other engineers on best practices in SRE.

  • Lead the design and implementation of projects aimed at improving operational excellence across the Technology Team.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and scalability.

  • Develop and refine tools and automation to enhance system performance and operational efficiency.

  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical issues and incidents.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual efforts through automation.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation for systems and procedures.

You own this if you have…

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on site reliability or infrastructure

  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerization technologies

  • Experience with languages such as Java, Go, Python

  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure

  • Strong networking experience and understanding of network protocols

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $141,000-$258,000 annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
