Job Information

Amazon Software Development Engineer, IT Product and Development in Seattle, Washington

Description

Come join us in building platforms and services used to tackle ever-evolving technical issues faced by Amazonians worldwide. We are looking for passionate and talented Software Engineers like yourself who will help us solve complex business problems and build highly available solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identify customer needs, potential solutions, and drive alignment and delivery on technical execution across disciplines and close partner teams.

  • Maintain and increase reliability and availability of existing global products and services.

  • Influence technical direction and engineering best practices within the team.

A day in the life

Our goal is to root cause and address issues that affect Amazon productivity. Working backwards from this goal, we build our products and services to effectively respond to Amazon employee issues directly while providing the necessary data and mechanisms necessary to close the loop on resolving the issue at the root.

To do this, we work closely across disciplines with product, data teams, and close partner orgs such as

IT Support and Enterprise Engineering.

About the team

By the time an Amazon employee reaches our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, it means they have exhausted all other options to resolve their issues. Our products and services are then tasked with effectively identifying and resolving their issues so they can return to productivity.

Believing that "prevention is better than a cure" we bring that data back to earlier in the problem resolution process with a goal of preventing the problem from happening in the first place.

We collaborate closely within our team to creatively solve such problems, as well as with partners and stakeholders to implement meaningful solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
