Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor, located at the Sebewaing Warehouse, 763 N. Beck St., Sebewaing, MI 48759. This will be a salaried, second shift position, which works 3pm-11pm Monday-Friday.

 

Job Summary

Manage sugar handling, packaging, warehousing, shipping, and receiving operations efficiently to minimize costs and maximize our productivity. This position will also work with our sales and quality departments to meet customer demands while keeping a safe quality food (SQF) environment for our customers. This position requires leadership skills to coach and train employees on operating safely while promoting a team atmosphere.

Primary Responsibilities

Supervise employees in Packaging, Warehousing and Shipping operations.

  • Lead improvement efforts and researching costs for capital projects.
  • Provide training and development for employees in SOP, GMP/Food Safety and Occupational Safety.
  • Prepare in advance and participate in all scheduled and unscheduled audits.
  • Managing and implementing the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Enforce Michigan Sugar personnel policies, the collective bargaining agreement and comply will all labor laws.
  • Scheduling employees for temporary off shifts to meet customer demand.
  • Handle employee complaints, grievances, and discipline.
  • Support the maintenance team with the reliability of the equipment.
  • Oversee the sustainment of the sugar warehouse facilities and silos.
  • Enforce Michigan Sugar safety policies and MIOSHA regulations.

Responsibility toward Food Safety & Quality

Assure sugar handling, packaging, warehousing, and shipping operations are following 21CFR100 "Current Good Manufacturing Practices in Manufacturing, Packing, or Holding Human Food".  Enforce Michigan Sugar GMP policies.

Assure all required records under the "Establishment and Maintenance of Records" section of the "Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002" are maintained as it relates to immediate previous source and immediate subsequent recipient of food.

Support the Food Safety Committee as a member. Conduct monthly self-inspections according to the MSC Sanitation Self Inspection Program.

Support the HACCP program.  Assure screens, magnet and metal detectors are being monitored according to the HACCP plan and corrective action procedures are carried out.

Support the sanitation and cleaning program in and around the sugar warehouse. 

Assure employees are following good housekeeping practices.

Assure the pest control program follows Michigan Sugar and AIB standards in the around in and around the sugar warehouse.

Respond to customer complaints regarding packaging quality.  Determine root causes, implement, and document corrective actions.

Conduct and document mock recalls every six months.  Correct any deficiencies.

Assure COA's are provided with shipments when required.

Assure shipping vehicles picking up sugar are inspected and documented.

Ensure deliveries of incoming ingredients and packaging materials are inspected and documented.

Carry-out segregation procedures for non-conforming products.

Assure storage practices follow AIB standards.  An 18" perimeter of space must be provided between stored products and walls.
