Emergency Department

Full Time

Shift: Variable

(every other weekend & every other holiday)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed teaching to guide patients and families through care episodes and transitions.

  • Support the development of students, new staff, and colleagues; serve as a preceptor if needed.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking to identify clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.

  • Communicate effectively with care providers and recommend changes in patient care and unit practices.

  • Ensure comprehensive patient documentation to promote caregiver communication.

  • Create a compassionate, patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and support changes to improve care quality and the practice environment.

  • Adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility with the change process.

  • RN experience strongly preferred

  • Pre-hospital (EMT, paramedic) experience preferred

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity.

  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIH)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
