BlackRock Associate, Client Business - Alternatives Specialist Team in Seoul, South Korea

About this role

Alternative Specialists Team (AST) helps BlackRock's clients gain access to the investment teams, resources and strategies within our alternatives strategies platform, and is tasked to deliver solutions for our clients. AST has deep knowledge of particular product sets to drive specialist to specialist conversations. AST works in partnership with our relationship managers (RMs) and sales coverage within the Client Business Group to maximise our engagement with our clients in respect of our Alternatives capabilities. By ensuring that we have high caliber specialists, AST can maximize our bandwidth and depth of client relationship.

BlackRock's Alternatives platform includes Infrastructure, Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, and Alternative Solutions, with offerings across each of the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions as well as the breadth of the risk-return spectrum. BlackRock's alternative platform is a fast growing business unit within BlackRock offering mainly institutional clients access to liquid, illiquid solutions, providing investments from a broad and deep suite of products and investment partnership opportunities.

Korea Alternatives Specialist team is seeking a professional to service our growing client base. The successful candidate would be responsible for providing services to investors in Korea and supporting relationship managers in the continuing growth of assets under management of BlackRock’s alternative strategies. The role's primary focus is on illiquid and liquid alternative strategies. AST has expert knowledge across private markets, both equity and debt/credit, and work extensively on bespoke solutions for our clients. In addition, all members of AST are knowledgeable across the broader BlackRock's alternative platform and can represent these capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support and service to clients in Korea;

  • Respond to client inquiries in a thorough, accurate and timely manner;

  • Assist, and in some instances, lead prospecting research efforts;

  • Facilitate pre- and post-meeting logistics to ensure smooth operations;

  • Maintain and update client information regularly for accuracy and completeness;

  • Cultivate an internal network by collaborating with BlackRock business partners to guarantee client onboarding and servicing excellence;

  • Acquire proficiency in internal systems and processes;

  • Commit to understanding market dynamics as part of ongoing professional development;

  • Actively contribute to client strategy discussions and share innovative ideas with the lead Relationship Manager (RM);

  • Support AST and Client Business (CB) Relationship Managers by providing materials, addressing client queries about new products, and assisting with the pitch process, including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), due diligence, and presentations;

  • Deepen relationship and trust with internal stakeholders both inside/outside Korea.

Key Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years in the financial sector with a BA/BS in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Marketing;

  • Proficiency in office software (Excel, VBA, Word, PowerPoint, Access);

  • Passion for Alternatives and strong statistical acumen;

  • Proven client service experience and financial market knowledge;

  • Understanding of industry success factors and competitor awareness;

  • Analytical skills, ethical integrity, and a client-first attitude;

  • Excellent interpersonal and multitasking abilities in a dynamic setting;

  • Team-oriented with a positive improvement mindset;

  • Native Korean and proficient English communication skills;

  • CFA qualification is advantageous.
