What’s the job?

The Maintenance Planner coordinates plant maintenance tasks in order to minimize costs and production downtime by the proper use of craft manpower, materials and services. Plans major plant maintenance activities and promotes planning and scheduling techniques for better understanding of Maintenance and Production Supervision. This position works directly with the Maintenance Supervisors & reports to the Maintenance Manager.

  • Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities.

  • Analyze all work orders for clarity as to what is requested - contact originator to assure a clear understanding of the work order submitted.

  • Plan jobs – includes a written plan of the materials, special tools, craft sequence and time required to perform the job.

Teamwork will be required to be effective in daily assignments as well as special improvement and continuous improvement projects.

Key Requirements :

  • Plan and review corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance tasks with Maintenance Supervisors and the Maintenance Manager.

  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on pre-kitting materials for planned work. Create purchase requisitions for materials in advance to minimize impact to storeroom.

  • Expediting materials for emergency work and prepare a critical path schedule for critical maintenance work.

  • Form task lists, man-hours, safety requirements and work performance criteria for maintenance tasks.

  • Maintain open communications with Production and Maintenance to effectively plan and schedule assigned work.

  • Coordinate corrective actions and root cause analysis functions as it relates to equipment failures

  • Suggest and initiate safety best practices.

  • Plan and facilitate weekly and daily scheduling meetings – communicate daily schedules to assigned departmental employees.

  • Review planned maintenance instructions for accuracy, effectiveness and efficiency – develop optimum maintenance strategies for all equipment.

  • Ensures Bill of Materials are updated and accurate

  • Report all Environmental Health & Safety incidents – Injuries, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.

  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.

  • Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position Job Safety analysis.

  • Conduct required Safety Audits and Near Miss reporting in accordance with plant goals and objectives.

What do you bring?

  • 2 Year technical degree or higher preferred (may consider equivalent experience).

  • Competent knowledge of Maintenance systems and organization.

  • Strong communication, planning and organization skills.

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (familiarity with business platform SAP a plus)

  • Familiarity with basic machine components and design.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
