Job Description

Responsibilities of the Quality Control Technician I include implementing and recording various testing methodologies within the laboratory. Monitor plant cleaning activities by conducting regular swabbing of production equipment. This position is responsible for the quality, safety, and compliance of the laboratory operations as well as the timely release of test results.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and set up new software (SAGE).

  • Perform analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using equipment like FTIR, densitometers, refractometers, flash point testers, and pH meters.

  • Log samples into the database, organize and catalog the retain library, and file sample folders.

  • Compare test results with specifications, conduct taste tests, and perform daily calibration checks of lab equipment.

  • Assist OH R&D with tasting panels, create expired material reports, and report food safety issues.

  • Develop and implement new procedures based on trends and analyses.

  • Conduct shelf-life evaluations for finished products and raw materials.

  • Clean lab equipment and glassware.

  • Retrieve and send documents related to internal transfers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Chemical or Food Science preferred OR one year of related experience and/or training.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and calibrations of technical lab equipment.

  • Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology or related Science.

Work Environment

Flavor manufacturing QC lab with strong smells and flavor tasting. The QC lab is a decent size, usually accommodating 3-4 people at a time. Workstations with computers are available for documentation and report writing. The position is for the 1st shift, running from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
