Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Human Resources (HR) in Singapore ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Manager works closely with the management team and key support functions, contributes to their success in achieving business objectives by building and maintaining a capable workforce that will be committed to delivering Bank’s strategies and promoting Scotiabank as an employer of choice.

As a trusted team member, the incumbent will leverage his/her knowledge of Human Resources and understanding of emerging issues and best practices and support the Senior Manager to identify, develop and implement innovative HR solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Talent Acquisition :

  • Identifies appropriateand effective external sources for candidates for all levels (including both direct and external agency contracts) within the Bank to ensure qualified and diverse candidates;

  • Effectively and efficiently use Vacancy Tracker, recording all details associated to the open positions and keeping the system up-to-date at all times on progress of hiring;

  • Actively conduct search on online portals such as LinkedIn, MyCareersFuture & internal portal (i.e. me@scotiabank) to source and shortlist candidates;

  • Provide advice to hiring manager on the necessary steps to be done and approvals that are required for new headcount, replacement, contract extension and/or contract conversion to permanent.

  • Ensures all necessary headcount/compensation approvals are received and save in record.

  • Provide advice to hiring manager in the recruitment, selection, and placement of staff to meet the Bank’s staffing objectives;

  • Leads the coordination and execution of the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process to enhance new- hire onboarding experience, ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and necessary dull diligence are met;

  • Works closely with Job Evaluation (JE) team and hiring managers in identifying and evaluating new/existing roles based on various factors such as compensation, scope of work and comparison of internal comparisons and external market benchmarking;

  • Liaises with Total Rewards to ensure competitiveness and consistency in Bank’s business principles and compensation philosophy to attract and recruit talent;

  • Works closely with HRBPs and HRSS (onboarding & Payroll) team for processing of background checks and immigration-related matters;

  • Orientates new hires or transferees on their first day to ensure smooth transition and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements;

  • Ensures that vendors/agencies are in compliance and holding them to the MSLAs

  • Provides supports to HR Risk & Controls on Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) by creating new suppliers/ vendors in Coupa and/or iCertis.

  • Maintaining an awareness of emerging HR trends/ best practices in HR by liaising with HR peers both within and outside Scotiabank and ensures the Bank’s policies and procedures stay current and market competitive; and

  • Participates and supports SeniorManager in implementation of Global/Regional HR initiatives/projects.

Experience/Other Information

  • Preferred: A University degree/Diploma from a recognized institution.

  • Professional human resources designation or equivalent work experience

  • With at least 8 years of Human Resources work experiences, preferably in the banking industry.

  • Fast learner, keen eye for detail and aptitude in problem-solving

  • The incumbent requires an in-depth understanding of the Bank’s Human Resources policies and practices including compensation and benefit programs in order to respond effectively to enquiries.

  • Good knowledge of employment/labour laws.

  • Good interpersonal skills and must possess well-developed written and oral communication skills to effectively deal with employees’ queries.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and good organizational skills to effectively deal with multiple demands and changing priorities.

  • Strong knowledge in MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. SuccessFactors) will be a plus.
