Aerotek Machinist in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec

Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

At our company, employees face the significant challenge of building a better world. We are currently seeking a CNC and Conventional Machinist for our factory in Sorel-Tracy (Québec, Canada), which manufactures turbines for hydroelectric power plants.

Responsibilities

  • Trace parts including identification and transfer of identification.

  • Operate machine tools (adjusting speeds and feeds).

  • Monitor the progress of operations and frequently check parts to ensure they meet specifications.

  • Maintain the good condition of machine tools and equipment by performing necessary preventive checks.

  • Perform mechanical assembly of parts on the machine when required.

  • Prepare tooling and cutting tools.

  • Pre-set tool holders.

  • Repair and sharpen tools such as end mills, drills, and reamers.

  • Repair and adjust measuring instruments like micrometers and indicators.

  • Analyze and understand blueprints, process sheets, and other instructions.

  • Measure parts using appropriate instruments.

  • Operate vertical lathes (approximately 6 meters), horizontal boring machines, and rotary tables.

  • Work with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC and conventional machining.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments and tools.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Attention to detail and precision in work.

  • Capability to work in a high-temperature environment and limited access welding areas.

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Professional studies diploma in machining and a certificate in numerical control, or a college diploma in mechanical engineering with a certificate in numerical control.

  • Fluency in spoken and written French.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team, be versatile, and show initiative.

Work Environment

Shift schedules vary, including day, evening, night, and weekend rotations, with schedules provided one month in advance.
