Job Title: Grant Accountant
Job Description
This person will perform the following duties:
Follow all policies and Federal Regulations related to Federal Grant funding.
Operate and maintain the automated financial system, Abila.
Manage payroll to ensure accurate and timely records.
Make recommendations to improve relevant systems.
Draft and present needed policy changes to the Council.
Ensure all supporting documentation is attached to contracts and grant Draw Down Requests before submission.
Attend Council meetings at the Summit Lake Indian Reservation 1-2 days per year (May and October).
Ensure compliance with office security policies and Office Procedures Manual.
Manage, prepare, and submit Financial Status Reports (SF-425's) to all funding entities (e.g., BIA, EPA, FWS, HHS, HUD, US Treasury, etc.).
Work with the Finance Clerk to complete and file required forms.
Generate up-to-date and accurate General Ledger and Accounts Payable Reports, including Budget Management Reports.
Assist Council Members and Department Directors as needed.
Maintain accurate files for audit and other purposes.
Report irregularities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Prepare and submit federal, state, county, and fuel tax reports.
Maintain accurate and timely quarterly and annual payroll tax reports and liability deposits.
Submit a written monthly financial report, including program summaries, to the Council and Department Directors in advance of Council Meetings.
Comply with state and federal tax filing requirements (e.g., Forms 940, 941, 1099, W2, etc.).
Assist Department Directors with the analysis, preparation, and modification of department budgets.
Reconcile monthly bank and other financial statements.
Make regular bank deposits if no one else is available.
Draw down funds from all grantors regularly.
Assist auditors in completing the annual audit.
Assist the CPA with documentation to negotiate the annual Indirect Cost Rate agreement.
Perform other duties as needed to ensure contract and grant compliance.
Maintain proper internal control systems, purchase orders, inventory, and credit card accounts to safeguard assets.
Supervise Financial Department staff, if any, and serve as Acting Administrator when appointed.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month contract with permanent conversion following.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Sparks, Nevada.
Work Environment
This person will work as the right hand to the council director and will have one accounting clerk as support.
