Job Description

To carry out engineering assignments related to both utility-side and customer-side energy efficiency measures.  To perform engineering work in the above areas which requires broad technical and company knowledge as well as originality and judgement in the technical analysis and independent evaluation, selection and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This position will work on engineering assignments related to mechanical and electrical system analysis both on the customer and utility sides of the meter.  Work will involve measurement, analysis and reporting of efficiency measures in HVAC, process heating and cooling, compressed air, hydraulics, lighting, refrigeration, and other systems for Avista and Avista customers.  To perform engineering work in the above areas using industry standard techniques where independent judgement is utilized in both the technical and financial analysis, product review, and reporting in measures related to the energy consumption in residential/commercial/industrial/utility facilities and processes.  This work requires timely and accurate one-on-one communication to customers at every level regardless of technical knowledge. This role is primarily focused on larger commercial and industrial customer's efficiency measures in partnership with Avista's Account Executives.  The works will also assist Avista's Energy Efficiency Program Managers with the creation, implementation, and analysis of efficiency programs. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist internal and external customers in the analysis and verification of energy efficiency measures.
  • Assist customers with understanding the impacts of various energy efficiency measure options.
  • Provide estimates for energy efficiency projects for the purposes of budgeting.
  • Meet with customers onsite to learn and understand their energy usage and opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Complete research and analysis of new innovations within the energy efficiency sector.
  • Safely install and collect electrical data collection devices in commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Represent Avista's interests on various energy efficiency industry committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in ABET accredited Engineering Program.
  • Effective and flexible communication skills.
  • Clear and concise technical writing skills. 

Entry Engineer:

  • 0-1 years engineering work experience preferred.

Assistant Engineer:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of engineering work experience required. 

Associate Engineer:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of engineering work experience required.

Engineer:

  • Minimum of four (4) years engineering work experience required.

Senior Engineer:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years engineering work experience required.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) required. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with residential/commercial/industrial HVAC systems and controls.
  • Experience with building energy usage modeling software (EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, Simergy, etc.).
  • Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP).
