Work Conditions
Monday to Friday 8 – 5, with after hours and weekends as required
Occasional day and overnight travel to branches

Located in Springfield, Oregon
Purpose of the Position:
To define and manage appropriate inventory levels through sourcing quality products at a competitive cost, while fostering and growing supplier relationships. Promote and actively participate in our company mission and vision.
Major Duties:
Quote and negotiate purchases
Source stocking items for order specific requirements.
Maintain accuracy of purchase orders including tracking deliveries, receiving dates, quantity and pricing reconciliation.
Track and analyze purchases.
Communicate updates and forecasts for supplier contracts.
Professional, effective and thorough communication with internal customers to understand requirements and to assure timely execution and receipt of purchase orders.
Research and establish requirements used in the selection processes to qualify new suppliers.
Develop, improve and standardize processes, policies and procedures to allow for more effective use of time and maximize value to our customers.
Contribute to department and Corporate sourcing and procurement strategies that include effective inventory management, cost and lead time reduction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior experience as a buyer or related experience is preferred.
Proven negotiation skills and excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of steel products and supplies. Excellent computer skills.
Ability to critically analyze computer reports and use that information to manage products and supplies.
Valid drivers’ license required.
College degree in business, economics or material management preferred but not required.
High school diploma or GED required.
