Full-Time Afternoon Cook 10:00am 6:30pm
Canterbury Inn is looking for a reliable, caring individual to work 10am to 6:30pm in our 42-bed residential, senior care home. Our facility is licensed as a Level III home with primarily independent residents. This role would require an individual to set up, cook and serve Lunch with the assistance of other dietary staff and independently serve super to the residents of our facility.
This position requires working every other weekend. Lunches and supper are prepared by the cook and served with the assistance of other staff members. Clean-up is the responsibility of both dietary staff members and will be done in a timely manner to allow for the next cook to begin working in the kitchen after meal service has ended. Menus will be cooperatively created with the Head Cook and Director to ensure a variety of balanced meals are served each week. Coordination of supplies and ingredients will be managed through the Head Cook.
Specific position tasks begin with pulling supplies, stocking tables as needed, preparation and management of drink service, preparation and service of a limited number of specialty items, preparation and cooking of lunch, cleaning the kitchen, dining room and kitchen close out after super. Shift roles are shared between 10am and 2:30pm when there are two dietary staff in the kitchen.
Applicants should be able to reliably report for their shifts and will need to pass a background check. Benefits are aligned with the number of hours worked. It is expected applicants will be able to keep a clean and sanitary kitchen during their shifts and work cooperatively to ensure a safe and clean work environment as well as a welcoming service experience for our residents. The role is fast paced and does require attention to detail. Every other weekend is a standard for all our staff, we work hard to ensure every other weekend is scheduled off, more when possible.
