Robert Half Payroll Specialist in St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Description

We are extending an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity where you will be responsible for handling payroll processes and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently and accurately process weekly and off-cycle payrolls for various wage types across multiple states.

• Handle new permanent staff, termination, and changes in the HR/Payroll system.

• Verify timecards, benefit deductions, and calculate overtime.

• Respond to payroll-related inquiries from internal staff via phone and email.

• Prepare and run monthly and quarterly wage and tax reports.

• Fulfill wage verification requests when required.

• Collaborate within the team to support and complete various projects.

• Manage employee deductions and liabilities.

• Collect, calculate, and enter payroll data to maintain up-to-date records.

• Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for report preparation.

• Update payroll records with changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.

• Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence.

• Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for department heads.

• Resolve payroll discrepancies through collection and analysis of information.

• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.

• Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.

• Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment.

• Maintain payroll operations by implementing established policies and procedures, reporting necessary changes.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is essential

• Familiarity with Kronos Timekeeping System is a must

• Knowledge of About Time software is necessary

• Ability to perform Accounting Functions effectively

• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP)

• Proficiency in Check Processing

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Ability to use Pivot Table effectively

• Experience with VLOOKUP function in Excel is a requirement
