Responsibilities Job Description

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role serves as a clinical resource, lead, and educator at community clinical events and clinics. They coordinate medication, equipment, and supplies, and are licensed to administer vaccinations and medications according to clinic standing orders and protocols. The RN also provides health education and assists with resource navigation, ensuring clinical staff are competent and safety measures are followed. They prioritize unbiased care and sensitivity to diverse populations, working closely with the Community Advancement team.

Job Expectations:

  • Clinical Leadership: Lead clinical services and respond to emergencies in community settings following established protocols and standing orders.

  • Decision Making: Demonstrate ability to make quick decisions and troubleshoot issues in dynamic community environments.

  • Staff Training: Provide training to clinical staff, particularly related to vaccination services and other clinical procedures.

  • Safety and Protocols: Ensure adherence to all protocols for safe handling, distribution of medications, vaccines, and testing procedures.

  • Adaptability: Adjust clinical and operational support to meet community needs while maintaining clinical standards.

  • Issue Resolution: Promptly escalate any issues or concerns to leaders within the Community Advancement team.

  • Community Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with community partners and government agencies to deliver clinical services and health education respectfully and safely.

  • Site Responsibility: Perform duties at multiple Fairview and community sites, requiring transportation of Fairview property as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or currently enrolled in a BSN program.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.

  • Reliable personal transportation to perform work at multiple sites.

  • Ability to meet casual employment expectations as needed.

License/Certification/Registration:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

  • Active MN Registered Nurse License.

Preferred:

Education:

  • Coursework in Public Health.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of clinical experience.

  • Experience in Community Health Programming or Public Health Nursing.

  • Fluency in one of the following focus community languages: Amharic, Hmong, Karen, Somali, Spanish, Vietnamese.

License/Certification/Registration:

  • PHN (Public Health Nurse) certification.
