Machine Operator

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Machine Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring barrel plating equipment, ensuring the quality and performance standards are met. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor barrel plating equipment effectively to meet quality and performance standards.

  • Make necessary chemical additions and replace anodes as needed.

  • Accurately follow barrel plating process flow to ensure appropriate quality of product and process.

  • Startup and shutdown the barrel plating line and operate the barrel plating control panel following the standard work.

  • Perform weekly and monthly preventative maintenance activities; perform weekly tin tank change out using vacuum, hoses, brushes, and power tools.

  • Coordinate with the wastewater coordinator for operations related to barrel plating.

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork.

  • Perform SAP confirmations and print label program using a desktop computer.

  • Monitor quality of parts produced by performing visual inspections to identify visual defects in parts.

  • Actively support and participate in 5S, EHS, Quality, and GLSS programs by following all approved practices and procedures, performing clean-up activities, and identifying/recommending improvements to management.

  • Fulfill responsibilities/authorities detailed in any control plan associated with this position.

  • Train in our Vibratory and Annealing process and be able to rotate in both areas as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Able to use the necessary quality tools related to this position.

  • Able to effectively operate safely in a high-pressure environment.

  • Able to proactively work independently as well as with others with limited supervision.

  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Able to lift and transport up to 50lbs and stand throughout the duration of the shift.

  • Able to work regularly scheduled hours with overtime as needed.

  • Able to work an alternate shift as required.

  • Working knowledge of SAP along with basic computer skills.

  • Prior plating operations experience preferred.

  • Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with machine operation, general production, and using hand tools.

Work Environment

Our facility is air-conditioned with a separate air filtration system.

The department operates 19 machines and consists of 8 people.

While there are no annual reviews, we conduct regular 1-on-1 reviews with employees.

Raises are based on contribution efforts such as effort, attitude, attendance, and learning.

We have a safety program that rewards employees for identifying near misses or concerns with scratch-off tickets and chances to win prizes.

We also host lunch and learns and smaller events like Super Bowl gatherings.

Our employee appreciation week in early March features snacks every day.

Shift

1st Shift: 6AM - 4:30PM

Monday - Friday

2nd Shift: 4PM - 2:30AM

Monday - Friday

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
