Job Title: Textile Machine Operator

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Textile Machine Operator to lead and direct the operation of production lines and associated equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure that customer requirements are met, assist with new hire and operator training, and maintain production documentation and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the operation of the assigned production line(s) and associated production equipment.

  • Ensure customer requirements are met through proper setup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the production line.

  • Assist with new hire and operator training.

  • Ensure appropriate documentation, work instructions, and work orders are available to all employees.

  • Read and interpret production work orders to determine machine process settings.

  • Verify that production line setup is correct and product conforms to specifications.

  • Maintain equipment by performing and directing team activities.

  • Ensure safety rules and requirements are observed and address unresolved safety issues.

  • Maintain good housekeeping and workplace organization.

  • Refer worker grievances or disciplinary issues to Shift Manager.

  • Control, account for, report, and preserve raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory.

Essential Skills

  • Machine operation

  • Mechanical skills

  • Troubleshooting

  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs or better throughout the duration of the shift

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, push, and pull consistently

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Strong attention to detail

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure

  • Ability to read and interpret tape measure

  • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and fractions

  • Ability to read and interpret charts used for process control

  • Strongly prefer 5 years of experience operating machine equipment in a manufacturing environment

  • Leadership abilities to work and direct self-directed teams

Work Environment

This is a non-climate-controlled environment, which can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Overtime is required for each shift. The positions are available in Statesville, NC, with shifts including B shift Line 1, A shift Line 8, and Lamination 6. Reliable transportation is a must, and carpooling is not permitted.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
