Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, chain disk harrow, disk, air drill with air commodity cart, drill, planters, cultivator, power units, excavator, mudmaster with trailer, ejector finish bucket, dickey vator, plow, levee squeeze, box blade, header, trailers, grain cart, and rice roller. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job requires participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; furrow irrigation; building, constructing and maintaining levees, installing and removing levy gates and putting in spillways; and installation and maintenance of water control structures and stop logs; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; dump hopper bottom grain trailers at grain storage facilities and load hopper bottom grain trailers at grain storage facility for transport to local elevator; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, grain storage units, grain handling facilities, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment and farm facilities. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions.
