ABM Industries Manager, HR Investigations & Policies in Sugar Land, Texas

Overview

ABM is hiring a Manager, HR Investigations and Policies to serve as a Center of Excellence for the Workplace Investigations function across the ABM Enterprise. In support of the Director, this role manages ABM’s Workplace Investigations Team of five. He/she operates with sufficient independence to adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges, while supporting the Director of Policy Development and Compliance and the organization's mission, vision and values.

This is a Hybrid Work Arrangement sitting preferably in our Sugar Land, TX office!

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for ensuring that the investigators perform thorough, appropriately scoped investigations

  • Train and mentor investigators on ABM Workplace Investigations practices

  • Lead investigators to success by emphasizing the importance of SLA, time to close, and following ABM’s Workplace Investigations Manual.

  • Train and mentor investigators on best practices when engaging in sensitive investigations, in addition to interviewing techniques and writing investigation summaries

  • Work collaboratively with HR colleagues and legal to discuss strategic direction on prioritized cases

  • Evaluate incoming hotline reports and assign them to the appropriate Investigator, HR, or internal business partner for resolution

  • Evaluate the necessity for and create investigation directives

  • Evaluate matters for escalation where appropriate and communicate such escalations to the necessary

  • business leaders

  • Daily review and maintenance of cases for information accuracy and data integrity

  • Create and facilitate user training for the Incident Management System

  • Manage all administrative support functions for the Incident Management System. (i.e., establishing new user credentials, managing user access, archiving users)

  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analytics support as requested

  • Support various WI ad hoc projects

  • Investigate cases, primarily at a priority level, as assigned per ABM Workplace Investigations SLA.

  • Update and maintain Team Member Handbooks. To include:

  • Researching/retrieving information from Littler and other partners

  • Updating formatting and table of contents

  • Partnering with ABM Legal o Partnering with vendors for translation and other support services

  • Coordinating with ABM Marketing for timely uploads to abm.com

  • Assists in developing policies, updating ABMWay and the HR Knowledgebase

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred

  • 3-5 years' experience in human resources management including employment investigations

  • Previous people management experience

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills required

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high performing teams in a matrix environment

  • Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis on taking ownership and being responsive to internal and external customers

Other Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Experience with hotline reporting and incident management software.

  • Ability to generate reports. Using Oracle B&I and MS-Excel.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills/proficiency in MS-Word and MS-Excel.

License(s) & Languages

  • Ability to read and write Spanish, preferred.
